3 projects on my needles…what?

I took me all Summer to get this photo of the hummingbird. I have some where they are in flight, but I think this is my favorite. I’d try to sneak out and take their photo and they were so defensive at first, I’d never catch them. Lately , they are stocking up for their big migration. They are much easier to photograph. It was just a matter of me standing in the right spot and being patient. ….

I’m also glad they showed off during my talking blog the other day! They bring us so much joy . From the first sighting and all summer long, they are just the cutest little flying things.

I have 3 projects on the needles. You know this is odd for me. I have the shawl I showed you yesterday. I have ripped out my TOAST fingerless and started them anew tonight. Now I know they will have a good fit. I consider the other start a gauge swatch. Lol. Finally, I have the orange skirt that will never be a skirt. I think it is turning into a lil orange blanket . Maybe I can put a pumpkin on it, in purl bumps. OR maybe I will put a pumpkin pocket on it. I like that thought.

We paddle boarded again today. The winds were strong but we made it to our point. Once we turned around , like yesterday, we felt like we were on sailboats flying back to shore. It will be hard to put those boards away. We have had a CoVID summer , like everyone, but our weather has been so so good. Sunny, 70s 80s and an occasional 90. Very little rain. Tons of opportunities to paddle, to hike the lake, to cycle and to garden. Windows open most nights. The crickets are still chirping.

Thanks for hanging in there with me all Summer. You are all so great. It means the world to me to hear you enjoy this lil corner of my life. Now, To read about yours!

  1. I LOVE your hummingbird photo!!! What a great shot. And I think it’s much more interesting (and unique) than a shot of a hummingbird in flight. (Those are very cool, too, of course — but you rarely see a hummingbird just sitting there, being a resting hummingbird.) 🙂

  2. I am just so impressed that you two have paddle-boarded so much this summer. When I was younger I used to sail my Sunfish sailboat as often as possible and those are some of my best memories. You go, girl! ((hugs)), Teresa 🙂

  3. Great photo of a hummingbird!
I am so impressed that you paddleboard. It looks fun, but hard. So much balancing!
I listened to your audio podcast and it was so much fun to hear you and watch the birds!

  4. I love watching hummingbirds and hearing the distinctive “whistle” when they fly. I felt blessed to actually hold one in my hand a cold morning when I lived on the farm – I’ll never forget the feeling of wonder.

  5. Busy lady! I do love hummingbirds. I had to take down my feeder because it was being swarmed by wasps and bees and they chased the hummingbirds away! Boo! I was happy to see hummingbirds returning to drink from a hanging plant and they weren’t bothered by the wasps there. Yay! I need that bit of joy right now! Thanks for your great posts!

  6. You’ve been really active all summer. That’s great. Fall has definitely come here; I’m surprised since we usually have lots of high heat through September. Not this year! Evening boating may be a thing of the past for me unless I wear a winter coat!

Great hummingbird photo, too. Aren’t they such a joy to watch?

  7. It’s so strange to be ‘at work’ while still home! Looks like it will remain this way until at least the first of the year. Regaining the commute time has given me more yardening time, more neighborhood-walk time, and reading time, of course! So, I cannot complain about these things.

  8. Lots of projects going. I have I have five (5) projects on the needles. That’s really unusal for me. A shawl, baby blanket, dish cloth, sweater for Miss Piper, 4 baby hats to seam. I also have a cross-stitch that I’m champing at the bit to get back to.
I’m glad you’ve had a good summer while being confined from people. We have too, except for the passing of loved ones. God is good though and I know that all works best for those who love Him.
I’m axiously awaiting Dennis’s retirement next year so we can move closer to Mandy and Piper. I miss family. Dennis had been able to snuggle with Piper twice in the last three weeks while i was forced to stay home by my cardiologist. Not fair!!!!! They played lots of Sorry!, UNO, and crazy eights. I want to play too! :-). I’m not complaining, I just want to retire and move home.
I hope you have a great Thursday my dear friend.
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy
