Q and A

Do You prefer shawls that lie perfectly on your shoulders like this one? Patter is St. John’s wood. I’m in love with leaves lately. I think I could do the l8 row repeat for the lace edge.

I watched a Brain show on National Geo. last night. It said it is very hard to have your brain do two things at once from different brain areas. This guy who thought he was the best multitasked on Earth took their test ..and did as well as 97 percent of the rest of us.

I do think however, that knitting while we do something else, may be the reason our brains are better when we knit. Do you think Knitting improves your brain?

If someone handed you a basket of yarn today, what would you want it to be?

Do you have any ergonomically friendly chairs , needles for knitting or screen do hickeys?

finally,

Is 5 cats too many? I see one at a shelter I so want… (Update, I can’t have that sweet cat, much as I’d love to. Miss Pie said no to me)

Thanks for playing. I have had to limit my screen time so I am behind commenting on your blogs. Im sorry. I like to read and comment often. This week is tough for that. Forgive me!

As long as it keeps my neck warm. My HP Purlbreak for sure; my Hitchhiker is skinnier and lighter it seems.

I feel it soothes me for sure but I’ve been listening to something to keep my mind focused as my husband watches videos or shows on his computer in the office which is right off our bedroom and there is no door.

A sweater’s quantity of DK or worsted weight!

Do you have any ergonomically friendly chairs , needles for knitting or screen do hickeys?
No but I do use craft gloves.

We’ve been leaving out food for a kitten recently; I feel bad for it as it’s been wet and rainy. Today I left out a cup of Purina Kitten Chow and it ate most of it; that told me it didn’t get to eat yesterday. We can’t adopt it; the husband barely tolerates the sister kittens inside.

  2. That is a beautiful shawl pattern!
    1. I like most shawl shapes – don’t really have any strong shape preferences at all.
    2. I definitely think knitting improves learning and retention. I remember things better and pay more attention to what I’m listening to or watching while I knit.
    3. Boy, that is a tough question – a basket of almost any yarn at all would be welcome!
    4. My favorite needles are my Karbonz, which aren’t specifically ergonomic, but which I use partially because they are much friendlier to my hands than metal needles. So I tend to think of them as ergonomic.
    5. 5 cats is a perfect number! Get the cat! Save him or her! You are a wonderful pet parent, and would give him a wonderful home 🙂

  3. Any hand/eye coordination has to be good brain exercise. I don’t think people really can do 2 things at once, one of the things suffers for attention…we just aren’t aware of it. 5 cats might be pushing it, but I understand the desire to help. I sit in a big chair for knitting/crocheting, but I might be sitting up in it when I really need to concentrate. I like shawls and scarfs…do I really need to chose? And I mostly have sock yarn because that is my default knitting project. Of course double or triple it and you could do something else. 🙂

Yes! And I love leaves! You can do it!
    2. Do you think Knitting improves your brain?
    I do… as well as hand-eye coordination.
    3. If someone handed you a basket of yarn today, what would you want it to be?
I’d love some nice silk to knit with
    4. Do you have any ergonomically friendly chairs , needles for knitting or screen do hickeys?
No. I have one for my computer, but that’s it.
    5. Is 5 cats too many?
Not at all! Five is my purrfect number. I’m still trying to convince Dave we need a fifth.

  5. 1. I like ones that can go around my shoulders wrap around my front and tie in back. I don’t like them hanging down.
    2. I dunno. The Mister swears I don’t hear anything when I am knitting. I think it’s just him I don’t hear. Lol.
    3. Sock yarn, sock yarn and more sock yarn. Stripes, of course.
    4. Nope but I did think about some crochet hooks but they were very pricey.
    5. I have 7 maybe 8 now. There is no such thing as too many cats as long as you don’t ask me at 6 am when Hoover wakes me up EVERY STINKING MORNING. I actually take a can of cat food into the bedroom now so I can shove some food at him while I am half asleep and then shut the door and crawl back under the covers.

  6. Crescent shawls are my favorite to wear. No special chairs, needles, etc. and I’m not particular about yarn type as long as it doesn’t pill, bloom or felt. if Fireman’s on board, you have the room, and your present fur babies won’t object, then get the cat.

Do you think Knitting improves your brain?
    A. Any activity that makes you think is good for our brain, I imagine.

If someone handed you a basket of yarn today, what would you want it to be?
    A. Alpaca/Silk blend in jewel tones.

Do you have any ergonomically friendly chairs , needles for knitting or screen do hickeys?
    A. Um.. no?

    A. I wish you would save that cat from possible death or being adopted by people that aren’t as wonderful of a cat momma as you are.

  8. I love the shawl! Yes, of course you can do that repeat. Easily! I definitely think you should get the cat. You never have too many fur-babies. Come by and see me at my old blog when your time frees up. I have resumed posting. Yeah!

  9. I do like “non-slip” shawls. Though I haven’t yet, I’d like to knit a Faroese one for just that reason.
There was a point at which I had five cats here. Plus two dogs. Not too many if your heart is big.
Although they aren’t ergonomic exactly, I continue to sing the praises of square needles for cutting down on wrist discomfort.

  10. I do like shawls that hug your shoulders comfortably. They don’t fall off as easily that way.
I definitely think knitting improves my brain. It keeps my brain active and working. I am not picky about yarn. Anything worsted or any kind of sock yarn, (fingering weight), tend to be my favorite weights. I do not have any ergonomically things that help though. Five cats? Only if you think it’s too many! Ha!
    Have a great day Kathy.
    Blessings,
    Betsy
