Monday Q and A , Again. Just Because

unnamed-2.jpg

I have nothing substantial to show you on my Abalone Shawl.  So let’s play q and a?

*Have you knit with a gradient yarn?

*If so, was your motivation partly due to the fact that there are no ends to weave in?

*unnamed.jpg

*Do you forbid your cats to sit on the table?

*If you could go anywhere in the world this week ,where would you go and who would you go with?

*Many of you suggested great shawls for me to knit next.  Thanks!  Do you want a few more that I found?

*If you could pick two things that would grow well in your yard /garden/patio this year what would they be?

*What’s your favorite positive affirmation that you rely on to encourage yourself?

Happy MONDAY.  Baseball in 3 more days.  That makes me so happy.

  1. We’re counting down til “Play Ball” too…tho’ Norman did watch the Cubs/Nats pre season last week…I have several gradient yarns…some I like and others, yuk! We don’t have an inside cat…and if so, it certainly *would not* sit on the table if I knew it!
    Cheers~

  2. Lena is on the table as I type! I love the gradient yarn , it is yummy to see the colors flow but some projects are better for the cakes than others. I want a trip to the Caribbean…

  3. I have not knit with a gradient but it sounds fun and no weaving in the ends would be a big motivator
    No cats in our house
I think I would go somewhere sunny, like Austin or Santa Fe, if I were going soon but I Scotland is always on my list
    I always love shawl ideas
I am hoping my lavender and hydrangeas will come back this year
I keep telling myself to live with open hands. Closed fists keep God from doing the good work
Thanks – your Question posts are fun

  4. I knit a shawl in a gradient blue last year. The colors drew me to it… didn’t even think of no ends to weave in. But, the color change was so slow I got terribly bored.

Tyg goes wherever he wants and whenever despite what we tell him.

I would love to go to Alaska…but in the summer. If right now, I’d go to Santa Fe with Fletch…and have Colin & Mailing tag along.

    I love seeing your options!

Lupines would be nice again…we had them years ago. In the veggie garden I’d like eggplant.

Words of wisdom:. This too shall pass or “just get over it.”

    Fun questions Kathy – thanks!

  5. *Have you knit with a gradient yarn?
Yes but I only got 12 inches on my hitchhiker shawl and got sick of it all being one color. Bah.

*If so, was your motivation partly due to the fact that there are no ends to weave in?
    Sure, that explanation works. LOL!

*Do you forbid your cats to sit on the table?
Yes but cats are notoriously disobedient.

*If you could go anywhere in the world this week, where would you go and who would you go with?
Fiji and with my beloved husband.

*Many of you suggested great shawls for me to knit next. Thanks! Do you want a few more that I found?
    I’ll check them out!

*If you could pick two things that would grow well in your yard /garden/patio this year what would they be?
Bougainvillea but it would not make it through the winter here. Palm trees, but ditto.

*What’s your favorite positive affirmation that you rely on to encourage yourself?
    Suck it up.

  6. Yes, I’ve knit a couple of shawls with gradient yarn & love them. Please share the shawl patterns that you discovered. I love moss roses and pansies because they are low maintenance.

  7. 1.I have not knit with gradient yarn (yet), but I have a beautiful skein in my stash. My motivation was seeing the shop model … it was beautiful. I don’t think I even thought about not having to weave in ends. LOL
    2. Do you forbid your cat to sit on the table?
ROFL —- I can’t believe what I let that little furball get away with. He goes pretty much wherever he wants. Before I had Giroux I’m sure I had pretty firm opinions about where a cat should and should NOT be. The only place he is forbidden to go is into the basement here.
    3. If you could pick two things to grow in your yard, what would they be? A lilac tree and forsythia.
    4. What is your favorite positive affirmation that you use to encourage yourself.
I have a couple — “It is what it is” and “When you don’t get what you want, wait. There may be a better thing in the future.”

Love your Q & A’s, Kathy. Thanks for thinking up interesting questions each time.

  8. *Have you knit with a gradient yarn? Nope, although I do have one in the stash.

*Do you forbid your cats to sit on the table? Yes, but they tend to have a different opinion.

*If you could go anywhere in the world this week ,where would you go and who would you go with? A non-commercialized South Sea island with my husband.

*Many of you suggested great shawls for me to knit next. Thanks! Do you want a few more that I found? Good Lord, no! I already have way too many in my Rav favorites and queue.

*If you could pick two things that would grow well in your yard /garden/patio this year what would they be? Blue columbine and woodland phlox. Why, yes, I DO have a shady garden.

*What’s your favorite positive affirmation that you rely on to encourage yourself? If not me, who?

  9. *Have you knit with a gradient yarn?
    No! But I want too.
*If so, was your motivation partly due to the fact that there are no ends to weave in? It’s why I would love to use a gradient yarn.
*Do you forbid your cats to sit on the table?
No cats right now but will soon hav stow. I’m guessing they will go wherever they want to!
*If you could go anywhere in the world this week ,where would you go and who would you go with? Hawaii with Dennis. Warmth sounds good.
*If you could pick two things that would grow well in your yard /garden/patio this year what would they be? Rhubarb and I would love to grow green beans again but they haven’t done well lately.
*What’s your favorite positive affirmation that you rely on to encourage yourself? This to shall pass. It was my Moms
favorite saying when things got tough.
    Blessings,

  10. No cats here due to allergies, but if we did have cats… absolutely NOT on the tables our counters!! And, I love knitting with gradients – not because of the ends, but the change of color is almost like knitting with self striping sock yarn! You know….I will just knit to the next color….

  11. *Have you knit with a gradient yarn?
I don’t believe I have but the last time or two I was at STITCHES I was obsessed with them and have two skeins in my sock yarn stash.

*Do you forbid your cats to sit on the table?
No cats here, but I think I would have that rule.

*If you could go anywhere in the world this week ,where would you go and who would you go with?
I’d go to London with my crew.

*If you could pick two things that would grow well in your yard /garden/patio this year what would they be?
    Hmmm…I say blueberries and hydrangeas.

*What’s your favorite positive affirmation that you rely on to encourage yourself?
You can do it, you will do it!

  12. 1. Yes, because I am lazy and hate weaving in ends.
    2. Yes. I don’t like cat butts on my stuff. My cats are easy though. They don’t like people and hide most of the day. I’m sure they sit on everything at night though.
    3. Shetland Islands all by myself with lots of yarn. I am watching the series on Netflix and am in love.
    4. Hostas, hostas, hostas…it’s all we can grow here under the trees from hell.
    5. It’s awful…but I tell myself that if I can watch my mom die (and now my dad) I can get through anything. Both were horrific experiences. I also follow several of the Sandy Hook parents on Twitter and if they can put one foot in front of the other every day-so can I.
    Happy Monday!

  13. *Have you knit with a gradient yarn?
    Yep!
*If so, was your motivation partly due to the fact that there are no ends to weave in?
Partly, but mostly it’s just fun to watch the colours magically change.
*Do you forbid your cats to sit on the table?
I don’t, but Dave tries. His efforts are mostly in vain.
*If you could go anywhere in the world this week ,where would you go and who would you go with?
Scotland is top of my list, and with Dave. Other than not enjoying flying, he’s a pretty good travel companion.
*If you could pick two things that would grow well in your yard /garden/patio this year what would they be?
More Coneflowers, they are easy to grow, hardy, and attract the butterflies like crazy. I’d also like a new rose bush or two.
*What’s your favorite positive affirmation that you rely on to encourage yourself?
I don’t know if it’s an affirmation, but I’m a procrastinator, so I frequently have to tell myself to sit down and get my work done – the sooner I sit down, the sooner its done, the sooner I can get to the fun stuff!

  14. I’ve knit with gradient yarn because I liked the colour; that’s the only reason.
My 2 cats are not allowed on tables, and they do actually obey that rule.
If I could go anywhere, I would likely pick England or Italy.
I am wishing for an old-fashioned lilac bush for my yard and any lovely flowering tree (if only a magnolia would do well in Northeast Ohio!).
“Just Breathe” gets me through a lot.

  15. *I have knit with gradient yarns, and I loved the experience.

    * It was heavenly to have no ends to weave in but that is not what drew me to it, rather I loved the color progression.

*Our cats are not allowed to sit on the table. They believe that this rule only applies to people (like the don’t scratch the chairs rule) and I occasionally find them on it. One cat also prefers to drink out of the sink, as opposed to the water dish on the floor. I hear her land when she jumps down. I holler each and every time it happens.

*I would go to Scotland or Greece, and take A and Mom along with me. I would take my sister, too, but then she would bring along her whole family and it would get too complicated.

*Glad you found some to work on! I was going to say “YES!” to this but you already told, so no need.

*I want to grow big tomatoes that get ripe before frost. I want to grow bright pink and red poppies. I want to grow huge vines of sweet peas.

*I am pretty happy with “this too shall pass” and “S.H.I.T.” (Sure Happy It’s Thursday) has gotten me through a few weeks.

    Thanks for the questions!

  16. Hi It’s me Kathy B. Answering my own questions. Tee hee.
*Im going to knit with this gradient sock weight yarn. It will be my next shawl cast on. I was all about , Which pattern next……… until I realized my current Abalone has 300 stitches right now. It finishes at nearly 600 stitches. Guess I’m ahead of myself

*I picked a gradient so I will have no end to weave in or look funny when I finish the next shawl.

*Our cats are not allowed to sit on the table. I wipe the table before we eat . Our cats don’t follow the rules and Fezzy likes morning time with me while I post. .

*I would go somewhere warm with a beach and take Fireman, Al and Zach. Maybe Mexico?

*Other shawls patterns I’ve found: Nobleknits Autumn Blush (worsted though)
and Peace Will Come cowl, by Ann Weaver

*I really want my clematis to come back and thrive. I also want my little rosebush given me after my mom died, to come back!

*I have a few things I say to myself:
    “One day at a time”
“Your family loves you as you are”
and “God wants us to be happY”
