Small Talk

I have only tidbits for you today.  But tidbits are fun so here we go:

*I did not eat this cupcake but I wanted to.  When I’m working extra hard on my weight watcher life, I keep a list of what I wanted to eat but didn’t.  Is this obsessive?

*I have an olympian challenge for today.  Silly me.  I turned the second sock heel yesterday in haste, and forgot to knit a heel flap first.  Oops.  I have a lot of very teeny weeny stitches to pick up when I take it out soon.   And I’m tired of this sock but it aint gonna beat me!

*Highlights of the Olympics, if you don’t watch, included seeing the Finnish coach knit between her team’s runs, to stay relaxed.  The team was working on making a blanket for the country’s presidents new baby.  I can barely wrap my knit head around how cute that its!

*He’s still hanging around.  He does not respond one iota when we pound on the window or yell at him.  Fezzik is obsessed with him.  He chirps and follows him from window to window.  Fezzik has cabin fever.

*My sister is in Hawaii for a week.  I’m happy for her.  This is not Hawaii but it is a pretty Wisconsin sunset nonetheless, right?

*Finally, there is a chance we can see the Cubs play preseason baseball today. (not in person silly)  I can’t tell you how hopeful this makes me.  Here in the gloomiest week of weather this winter, a week when the sun has not made an appearance, when we are admittedly tired of the cold and gray, seeing baseball means seeing hope.

*We must soldier on and be hearty souls in this longitude and latitude.  And maybe start a new knit project.  Because that makes me happy.

  1. I’m so glad I’m not the only one who has begun turning a heel before knitting the flap. Duh. I guess it’s just our impatience I mean eagerness to finish the sock.

  2. I can so relate on the cupcake. I’m struggling with my low carb regimen right now.. the scale is stuck.. I feel like taking a sledgehammer to it. I hope you share some photos of your sisters trip to Hawaii.. my sis is on a cruise and is in Cabo San Lucas. Sisters! ((hugs)), Teresa 🙂

  3. What is it with possums? They must be the bravest animals in the world. I take the broom to mine and it just sits there and shows me it’s teeth. Everything else runs like crazy when I pick up my broom and get noisy.

  4. I like the idea of keeping a list of what you didn’t; eat – it will help you feel like you accomplished something!

As for the heel – bummer – but a fixable error. Not like an error in baseball. 🙂

  5. I’m jealous of your sister. We are having winter today! It snowed on Wednesday night to Thursday–3 inches! It all melted but this morning when I walked the dogs it was 25 outside! BRRRRR! THE STRUGGLE IS REAL!

  6. Love the WI sunset! Someone – an inspector- is stomping on my roof! I half expect him to fall through! Hope not! The cupcake looks delish…eat all you want, in your imagination! Kudos to you for your strength! and Won’t power! You go this beat!

  7. I have almost turned a heel before making the flap too, but thankfully caught myself just in time. I feel for you in picking up all of those stitches.
That possum is a brave one! Poor Fezzik. He’s probably going crazy. We had some sunshine this morning, but it’s supposed to snow tonight, tomorrow and Sunday. Spring could come anytime and I would be a happy camper. Literally. 🙂
    Have a wonderful afternoon Kathy.
    Blessings,

  8. We just got back from visiting our siblings in CA, and it was unusually chilly there. It’s cold (for us) here as well(28 this morning); we came home to a bit of snow, and our rhododendrons are most annoyed and have curled up their leaves to show that. Stay warm; are you getting the snow that’s happening in MPLS?

  9. Love your possum visitor! They eat ticks and rarely carry rabies, so they are good friends to have around!

You’re not alone in forgetting to knit the flap before turning! I’ve done it too!

  10. I like the idea of what I didn’t eat too ….. I’m totally going to borrow that. I DID eat the cookie today and I regret it mightily … my stomach hurts.

  11. I think Fezzik is also a great name for a possum! Ours are fearless as well, and often barge right up on the porch to inspect the squirrel feeder, regardless of cats at the windows.

Cupcakes are not my nemesis; that would be pie.

  12. We got 6″ of snow Thursday night and are expecting another 12-18″ (can that be right?!?!) tonight. Happily, I don’t need to go anywhere until Monday morning, and our plow guy will come on Sunday after the snow quits. Suggestion: after you write down what you didn’t eat, maybe you should eat the paper you wrote it on. Fiber, y’know?
