NO Knitting News Today, BOO

unnamed-3*For Meredith and everyone who is working in tough jobs!!!

*This ghost graced the Fun Run 5K walk.

*Last weekend, I decided to rip the remaining carpeting out of the desk areas of the house.  We wondered how the floor was underneath because the wood we had exposed was going in to different directions.  Look at how they cleverly made the herringboned join.  (below)

It was hard physical work.  I would not let Fireman help of course.  This made him crazy.  I was BONE tired after 6 hours.  It is just scut work, and I can do it.  But, my body felt it!  Fireman did go and buy me an almond raspberry scone mid day.  I felt I could indulge the points for all the labor.  So it wasn’t all bad!  unnamed-4

  3. Yep! I can totally relate. Once you get going on a project, you just gotta keep on it til it’s done. Congrats and glad you enjoyed a treat! Time to rest up now!

  4. It’s always a pleasant surprise when the flooring under carpeting is nice. I found plywood under all the carpeting I ripped up in this house and in Daddios….asbestos tiles!

  5. Bravo, Kathy.. for doing all that hard work. The reward is definitely that gorgeous floor.. I’d give anything to have a classic wood floor like that in our old farm house. ((hugs)), Teresa 🙂

  6. That is one beautiful floor!! Brava for all the hard work. You certainly earned that scone! I confess I would have eaten two. I know what you and Fireman are going through. I am also doing a lot of things that Bill used to do (but…no more on doctor’s orders) and I am well and truly tired!!

  7. Your floor is beautiful. I do like how they joined together. I remember when I took all of the carpeting up in my mother-in-law‘s house when I was visiting for one week. Four bedrooms, living room and dining room. I could barely move. That was about 10 years ago. I could never, ever, ever do that today. Well done Kathy! Good for fireman getting you your scone. You deserved it.
    Blessings always, Betsy

  8. Catching up with you and yours today kathy b and am so sorry Fireman took a tumble from his bike and has a broken rib 😦 I am praying he heals rapidly. Yay for your hard work in taking up carpet…a task that is doable, but dirty and tiring from my experience, too. The wood floor is a lovely reward to me. I enjoyed seeing the beautiful horses and folks you volunteer with, and I hope you don’t mind that I find you are a sweet not scary looking scarecrow 🙂 So sorry your dear cubs lost, but so glad you were not in the train that had to be evacuated. I always admire your ambitious stitching projects. You inspire me! xx

  9. Oh man, that is a lot of work! I’m glad your back is okay. Yeah, you burned a lot of calories. To create a floor like that is time and dedication to one’s work. The slats of wood are skinny.
